IMHO, this is the last good time period to snag PS3/PS2 games. I bought 8 desirable PS3 games the other day for $7/each in a bundle off eBay:
Open the Step 1 folder. Double-click the PS3 Jailbreak Kit folder, then double-click the Step 1 - Minimum Version Checker folder. 3. Copy the PS3 folder. Click the PS3 folder, then press Ctrl + C (Windows) or ⌘ Command + C (Mac) to copy it. 4. Paste the PS3 folder onto your flash drive.
The 60GB had the necessary PS2 hardware built in and would run all ps2 games. the US 80GB model used a different bit of emulation hardware and the rest in software but would only run about 60% of the PS2 games. All PS3 consoles will play PS1 games regardless of model. Like @CoolBeans just get an emulator. Or buy a PS2 on ebay they're like $40 P.S.

The tool allows to decrypt PS2 Classics for PS3 and encrypt any PS2 to play on PS3 (fat/slim/superslim). Encrypt. Allow you to select ISO or BIN/CUE PS2 game image, and encrypt it to ISO.BIN.ENC file acceptable by PS3. In this mode app automatically ask that you want to add LIMG sector to image, but you can do this also by ADD LIMG button. I have a PS2 but I want to play it on my PS3 because I want them all in one place instead of going through physical disc mess. Besides, I don't have a working controller for my PS2.
